Given how the WC is in winter, it does not seem like a bad deal to bring players during the winter transfer, given how they will have a full calendar year to get used to their new clubs, which for some it might be right away and for others a couple of months. Hopefully by the end of the season, Luis Diaz is has fully adapted to Liverpool.

17. to me logically Dias is bought in to replace Firmino, not initially but after adapting to the style and pace of the league, Bobby's contract will expire, money saved used to increase the deal for renewing Salah's contract ending maybe with Taki or Divock or Ox moving on ending up with front three of Jota, Dias, Salah in some sort of LW CF RW formation
