After scoring the goal that gave PSG a 3-1 victory over Maccabi Haifa, Neymar staged the same celebration that has become his trademark this season. However, German referee Daniel Siebert decided to give “Juninho” a yellow. Ney got furious by this decision: «I’m asking now, do you agree?» he wrote in his first tweet, which he later accompanied with the tweet #FreeTheCelebrationDanielSiebert.

«Total lack of respect for the athlete. This kind of thing can’t happen. I take the yellow for simply not having done anything and I continue to be harmed. And the judge? He will not even say he was wrong. A lot of lack of respect,» Neymar did not calm down on his Twitter page. Eventually, he dedicated the gesture to the referee.

  1. Refs are not bigger than the game. VAS has been questionable and appeals hardly ever amount to anything. Unfair and biased refereeing needs to be punished and wrongs needs to be corrected.

  14. I am not a big fan of Neymar at all. I am great fan of beautiful game of football. I do not appreciate referees who are killing the game to become center of interest.Showing technical skills is always appreciated by fans. They are ornaments of the game.
    Neymar gets yellow card for celebration (when noone is hurt) vs there are many players pardoned for hard fouls on opponents who got injured (no yellow card is given).
    Don't you think that it is utterly wrong? Maybe there is a need for third blue card as a warning in case of celebration or simply referees should stop punishing players for celebration. What is a world without human rights to express good emotions like joy and happiness. Players on the pitch are not prisoners allowed to play game as an award for following rules of their prison. They are skilled professional sportsmen devoted to their beloved sport who enjoy every moment of this beautiful game.

  16. they did this in the nfl because the celebrations got over the top and they said it was insulting but this is pure BS… if your gunna do that for neymar go get ronaldo or people who sliding into 2nd base after scoring a top bin.. like hypocritcal.
