I was most drawn to Redknapp's optimistic and I think realistic approach of trying to push England in the direction of being a team that has more control in the game. Our defence is on the decline in recent years, playing defensive invites pressure and makes it hard to suddenly change things and score on demand when you're in trouble. It makes even less sense when we do have players who can control games and do well in attacking positions. Unfortunately, Southgate will stick with what he knows rather than adapt to what suits the strength of the current team best.
