Roman Abramovich sells Chelsea

Russian businessman Roman Abramovich announced the sale of the Chelsea football club. Here is what his official statement on the Chelsea website notes:
“I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. In the current situation, I have therefore taken the decision to sell the Club, as I believe this is in the best interest of the Club, the fans, the employees, as well as the Club’s sponsors and partners. I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine”.
Abramovich has owned Chelsea since mid-2003s. During this time, the Pensioners have won 21 trophies, including 5 Premier League triumphs and 2 Champions League wins.
We recall that because of the recent sanctions, Roman Abramovich was forever banned from living in the UK. The news of the sale of the club excited many, for example UFC legend Conor McGregor. The Irishman jokingly announced that he is about to buy Chelsea for 3 billion pounds. Although, knowing Conor, you’ll never know if that was a joke or not. We will monitor the situation further on.
