Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe were, of course, the main characters of the tournament’s final showdown. There was obviously a very tense on pitch battle between PSG team-mates. Someone noticed how Messi, while going to his own half, looked in the direction of Mbappe and showed him a quite telling gesture with his fist after Argentina’s second goal. Interestingly enough, Mbappe did the same thing upon equalizing.

  1. I don’t like Messi. Ik y’all will chose Messi over but I like Ronaldo and mbappe better. If I wanna be honest France should win and Argentina kinda cheated in the finals. It very sad that mbappe scored all 3 goals. Not one person scored a goal for the team. His team made mbappe lost from 4-2. So basically it was mbappe vs Argentina because mbappe scored. That’s why I personally think mbappe is better that Messi. It’s my opinion but do you agree?

  2. This looks mostly like fun. No idea why the guy jumped inside the recycle bin. Not sure what Roy Keane was so upset about or why De Paul was so angry after winning. 

    I was disappointed with some of Martinez's antics. I'm not that concerned about gamesmanship/showboating during kicks, but after winning the Golden Glove and especially his ongoing digs at Mbappe. Even during the parade in Argentina. Just really disappointing and unsporting. And I say this as someone who was cheering Argentina in the final, and really wanted Messi to win a WC.

    People seem to take any criticism so seriously, but it's pretty unbecoming behaviour. Especially after he made a sporting gesture towards Mbappe immediately after the shootout. Again, nothing against a terrific championship team, a fun team with a lot of talent, veterans and younger stars alike. Just no need for spiking the ball.

  3. I know this is controversial, but I kind of hope Messi doesn't go for the repeat. He's at the pinnacle of the sport, the GOAT, he has nothing left to prove, and as this World Cup showed, margins are really tight and repeats almost impossible.

    Argentina are worthy champions, but it was no sure thing, they could have lost to Netherlands or France, and it is really unlikely they'd pull off the repeat. Messi may want to equal Pele's record of back to back WCs, but that was a different era where the field wasn't; nearly as competitive.

    I just hope he doesn't pull a Michael Jordan, return after reaching the peak and going out with a whimper.

    I also think Argentina needs to adjust to a post Messi era, develop new young talent to ensure they remain a major force after Messi. No one would refuse him if he really wanted to go for a title defence.

  6. Im from Argentina and Im tired of this football madness. I dont get it, everybody going crazy only for a game of football. I really dont care about winning a world cup, is not going to make my life better. Im happy that the world cup is over and the city is clean again

  12. Football News if you're trying to be informative please get yourself familiarised with the rules. A couple years ago there was a change, stating that additional ball on the pitch or subs will not invalidate the goal if there was no impact on the actual events that lead to scoring a goal.

  13. Messi still much better than mbappe 35 vs 24, 7 vs 8 goals in world cup 2024. Mbappe should do much better judging from his age, but thats all he got. And yet he still think he is better than messi. So lame. 😁

Mbappe is just a goal scorer whereas Messi is a game controller, playmaker, goal scorer , captain and leader which proves he is much superior than Ronaldo n mbappe… Mbappe is a dangerous player with speed and agility but at the age of 23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30,31 Messi was even far more dangerous than mbappe…
    So there's is no comparison between them… it's shame to compare two peoples of different ages and there should be comparison of players with same ages…but still GOAT 🐐 Lionel Messi is much superior at the age of his retirement days…

  17. Messi is Messi, he is the GOAT & not to be compared with Mbape though he is a good player because by now Messi is quite old but still performs and on the other hand Mbape is only 23 now. when Messi was at his prime age he was just wow and amazing incomparable with Mbape whatsoever.

  18. No need to find out the unnecessary mistakes of someone to confuse others. And in this world Cup everything is checking through VAR if there is some problems then they check more than 5 times.
    Assistant referees and the main referees are not fool the substitute players cross the lines only after the goals, without a goal for what reason they will cross the line.

  22. Mbappe played 2 world cups and has 12 world cup goals!!! And he's only 23 years old..and has won 1 world cup already and with better luck he almost won another one!!! Why are the Messi worshippers pitting him against Messi has been playing international football for ages and just barely won 1 world cup after competing in his 4th world cup!!! Let mbappe exhale and enjoy his youth..
